Oslo's Baby Nook

I've had some questions about where Oslo is sleeping so I decided to make a little blog post about it. Our goal is to have Oslo sleep in our bedroom for at least 6 months- 1 year and then slowly transition the boys together into Archer's bedroom once O is sleeping through the night and Archer adjusts to life as a big brother.

Creating a space for our second child proved to be slightly challenging. We spent many long nights staring at the wall across from the foot of our bed and negotiating with each other how best to utilize the small space our home had to offer.

We wanted our room to feel light and airy, kid friendly, but also mature enough that we could still enjoy the space. We didn't want to put up anything too permanently "babyish" since this baby nook is a temporary place for Oslo to sleep until he shares a room with Archer in the future.

Moreover, we were on a pretty strict budget and needed to keep things simple enough, but were desperate for a change in our bedroom that hadn't seen much love since we moved into our condo 5 years ago.

A huge part of what made our new master bedroom\ baby nook combo work was minimalism. We completely got rid of our dresser and opted for a pedestal bed frame that had drawers built underneath to house our clothing. We knew that a simple three drawer ikea dresser (the same style we used in Archer's Nursery) would be ample space for baby clothing, blankets, and other necessities. We painted the wall behind our bed white (it was previously a purple/slate color) and white washed our headboard to further brighten up the space.

My favourite part of this makeover was our mini crib find. We scored this basically brand new with an organic/ off gas free mattress from a local buy and sell page for such an amazing price. It fits our space perfectly!

I ended up doing a collaboration with another maker (Baby Tofu House!) for Oslo's baby nest. I dyed fabric for the inside and picked out a black and white consolation fabric for the outside. I love that this is something Oslo will be able to use well into toddlerhood and will act as a familiar place for him to sleep for many months to come.

There are some other awesome local makers that helped make this space come to life and I have tagged them below.

Hope you enjoy Oslo's baby nook! Comment, share, and if you have any questions feel free to reach out!
